The Simcoe Water was built in 1963 to replace the old 1907 Stand Pipe Tower that was located off of West St. The new water tower was constructed on lands at 296 Union St. It stands at 37.7 meters and has a capacity of 3,409,000 litres. Â The tower itself has been in the news due to the installation of the cell phone antenna on the water tower and the possible health concerns it could cause to local residents. Â A major repainting of the tower happened inside and out in 2011. Â The old Haldimand-Norfolk name was removed (referring to the old regional municipality that was disbanded in 2001) and Simcoe along with the new Norfolk logo was added.
