Geocache Description:

Oie ayns y Keyll

Come and join us and help to improve/build trails and tidy up this wonderful old Plantation. Start time will be 17.30 hrs and the CITO will close at 20.30 hrs

Archallagan Plantation Click here for more information, is also known locally as the "Forest of a 1000 trails". More and more recreational activities are taking place here and it is extremely popular with Mountain biking, walking, orienteering and school projects. Also close to the Plantation is the Isle of Man Astronomical Society observatory station and the area is noted for being one of many Clear Dark Skies on the Island where you can see some magnificent skies at night.

This area will also over the coming months, thanks to DEFA, become a mecca for geocaching as it lends itself to numerous different D/T types and Night caching.

The main purpose of the CITO will be to collect data from the dozens of marker posts around the plantation. Collecting the data will be a simple GPS reading recorded on sheets provided. This will then be averaged, stored and all the data given to DEFA for their records and safe keeping. Bin bags will also be available for anyone who wants to do some litter picking instead or as well as data collecting. Whilst doing this on a lovely walk around the plantation you can also enjoy the wildlife, scenery and your hobby of geocaching.

We look forward to seeing everyone there, whether you're a newbie or an old hand it should prove to be a very interesting evening.
