Event Time 10:45 - 11:00 AM
Location: At coordinates provided you will find Parking and the Trailhead for Alderfer/Three Sisters West Parking Lot. This will be a quick event to meet other cachers and share trackables with an optional extension to grab some nearby caches.
At 11:00 the event is officially over, but that is when the fun really begins. Meet at the given (parking) coordinates at 10:45. This event will be held regardless of the weather. I'm rating this event a 1/1.5 because all you officially have to do is sign the log book at the trailhead, but the trailhead area is not paved.
At 11:00 those interested can particpate in a snowshoe hike up Evergreen Mountain. At the last event there was talk of trying a snowshoe version of the "Let's Go For a Hike" series, but many that were intereseted had never tried snowshoeing before. Therefore, we decided to start with something fairly easy and close by with some options. Bring water, snowshoes and warm clothes. If you don't own snowshoes, but would like to participate in the optional hike, please email me and can give you some suggestions.
Be prepared for slick/icy trails or whatever mother nature throws at us.
The hike to Evergreen Mountain is about 2.5 miles one way with an elevation gain of about 1,030 feet. For those that don't want to hike the whole way, there is a very flat 0.6 mile loop trail adjacent to the Parking Coordinates.
I went and scouted the trails in between recent snows and there was enough snow to use the shoes, but in the next few weeks, if conditions change we may just make it another hiking opportunity. Conditions will determine the bonus activity after the event.
