Leyland St Andrew's Church
The church is said to have been built in 1050. In 1086, it was recorded in the Domesday Book that among the inhabitants of Leyland there was a priest, who would no doubt have a place of worship. In 1220 a new church was built and the chancel of this church still stands today.
The tower is said to date from 1220, but has been extensively restored C 1500. There are many emblems carved near the top of the tower to commemorate some of the notable people involved in the work. In 1816, the nave was taken down and rebuilt the following year, the width being increased by nineteen feet. When the old walls were taken down, the foundations were left in below the floor of the nave. When alterations were made in 1852 in the south - east corner removing some of the old foundations, there were fragments of a still earlier church found including 12th century masonry, incised slabs and parts of stone coffins

About Wherigo Reverse Caches:
Wherigo Reverse Caches were inspired by the original Reverse Geocache Puzzle Box
The cartridge for the Wherigo version was developed by -Waldmeister- and has been re-used in many difference caches.
The three six-digit numbers to activate the cartridge are usually given on the cache pages but I made this one so cachers have to visit the church. It is a Church Micro after all!
About this Geocache:
To find the cache you will need to download this Wherigo cartridge to a compatible device.
This cartridge will tell you how far it is to the final location but not the direction - you will have to work that out for yourself.
So far so good.
It is a play anywhere cartridge however to make it specific to this cache you need to enter the three sets of 6 digits.
In order to activate it you need to enter three 6-digit numbers and you will need to go to the published coordinates to find what they are.
At the published coordinates you should be able to see the entrance arch - if it could be described as an arch - into the church grounds from Church Road.
How many square battlements can you see on the lower part of the entrance structure (not including the ones on the turrets) ? This number is A
How many small turrets are there on it? This number is B.
Now all you need to do is substitute your answers into the below so you can get to work on the reverse cache.
