Dukes...mmmm the best hot dog EVER! Steamed poppy seed bun, sport peppers and that neon green pickle relish..and absolutely NO ketchup! Located on 176 in Island Lake which is now the PanHandlers Pizza, there was a small white building, a house made into a restaurant (at first it was Rae's Pizza) then a couple of hot dog places; first Mickey's then Duke's. Family ran the business..I would save up my allowance and walk down ..there was a path thru a wooded vacant lot that got you easy access behind the stand with out going on onto the highway..townies knew this stuff! Just the big heaping pile of french fries were a treat! Anyway, the owners had enough and sold the business(to a couple who had a pizza place across the street), they tore the building down ,rebuilt and Muncione's relocated...boy, I can surely go for one of those hot dogs now!
Nice walk, around a small pond. I wouldn't recommend parking along the entry road there it is posted no parking.
