Geocache Description:

NTSB Investigation #32985
Location: Clinton County, PA
Status: Pending

On July 16, 1986, a Piper PA-28 Cherokee (flight registry: N32777) crashed into Bald Eagle Mountain just a few miles from the William T. Piper Memorial Airport. There are many questions unanswered about the crash. Your task is to locate the "black box" flight recorder and log your investigation. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is counting on you!

The coordinates of the plane crash have been declassified and the crash is located at N 41° 07.785 W 077° 22.423. You may still attempt this as a multi, but we wanted to make sure that you are absolutely able to find the final should one of the stages go missing in the future.

To put it frankly, there is no easy way to get to the cache. That's what makes it such an adventure! We have provided two parking waypoints; you can read their descriptions to help you determine which one you want to do. If you know of another safe/legal way of parking, please message us and let us know!

The clues for stages 1-2 can be found directly on the pieces of wreckage, but backup camo pillbottle containers are also hidden at each stage in case the wreckage pieces somehow go missing. Once you find these two stages, you can proceed to the flight recorder.

Please only attempt this cache if you are willing and able to exert yourself physically! All in all, you're probably looking at anywhere between 3.5 and 4 miles of a round trip. The hike up is very rewarding but equally as steep! This mountain can definitely be an ankle buster! Be sure to bring hydration, extra GPS batteries, and some sturdy hiking shoes.

Good luck with your investigation!

Thanks to our good friend and fellow cacher JEP88 for introducing us to this location and helping brainstorm ideas for the cache.

FTF honors goes to Carels! Way to go!
