Gertie is the Founder of Perrinville!
Gertie would have been proud of the new buildings and businesses that are now seen here. This was the vision of Jennie Gertrude (Osborn) Perrin when she and her third husband purchased 35 acres around this intersection.
When Carl told her they were moving from their home in downtown Edmonds to this place, she says she answered, “If I am moving to the sticks, then I am starting me a town.” Gertie's Perrinville was registered in 1939 by her when she was 46 years old. It slowly developed from a few eclectic businesses, including Carl's roofing company, into the well-known Perrinville that is actually within both the cities of Edmonds and Lynnwood. Gertie was an industrious woman who operated or managed five restaurants, an antique shop and a doll shop, all in Edmonds.
