The Last General To Die.
As the Civil War came to a bitter end in Virginia, it still lingered on in Georgia. Wilson’s Union cavalry was on a path of destruction from Selma, Alabama to western Georgia and beyond. Most of the Confederate troops left to defend these areas were old men, boys, and some remnants of regular army. Even though starved and relatively out of supplies, these Confederate soldiers gave their last full measure for the South.
