L'inespugnabile forte della Turrà - La Vedetta
Costruito tra il 1891 e il 1895 il Forte della Turra si trova su uno sperone roccioso posto a 2.529 metri di quota in posizione dominante il Colle del Moncenisio che gli permetteva di controllare agevolmente anche l’alta valle Maurienne.
L’opera è composta da due bastioni circondati ad est da un impressionante precipizio e a ovest da un terrapieno difensivo. I vari edifici sono dispersi su un terrapieno. Il forte possiede due entrate con ponte levatoio e un osservatorio sotto forma di una torre medievale che offre viste molto ampie e lontane. Per proteggere i pezzi d'artiglieria ( in origine erano previsti 4 pezzi da 120mm) furono costruite quattro casematte in caverna, con delle feritoie rivolte verso la parete rocciosa. Una teleferica assicurava un collegamento rapido con Lanslebourg.
L’efficacia del forte fu dimostrata durante l’attacco italiano del giugno 1940 quando, nonostante una pioggia di proiettili che ne devastarono le strutture all’aperto, il forte riuscì a bloccare il passaggio del colle del Moncenisio, respingendo anche diversi attacchi della fanteria italiana. Aggirato da soverchianti forze italiane il forte deporrà le armi solo al momento della firma dell’armistizio italo-francese. A riconoscimento dell’intrepida resistenza alla guarnigione francese venne tributato l’onore delle armi da parte delle truppe italiane.
L'opera rimase inutilizzata fino al 1944, quando i tedeschi del 5° Gebirjager insieme al reggimento di paracadutisti italiani della Folgore la rioccupò. Durante l'inverno furono diversi gli scontri che videro opposti i cacciatori alpini tedeschi e i maquis francesi ma nessuno fu di grande rilievo. Nell'Aprile del 1945 invece i capi della resistenza francese decisero di prendere le opere del Moncenisio e si svolsero perciò sanguinosissimi combattimenti; nonostante il valore dei combattenti francesi il forte non cadde e restò nelle mani degli alpini tedeschi. Solo alla fine del mese il comando tedesco ordinò il ripiegamento delle truppe germaniche in valle padana e così il forte ritornò ai suoi originari proprietari. Al termine delle ostilità (pochi giorni dopo il ripiegamento tedesco) il forte fu definitivamente abbandonato.
Oggi il forte è abbandonato, ma la visita è possibile, con molta prudenza, trattandosi di un'opera in stato di abbandono da più di mezzo secolo.
Il cache contiene il logbook, una matita, un tb, una biro mostrillo.. Per preservare il più a lungo possibile il cache, rimettere a posto il contenitore esattamente nella posizione iniziale.

Porre la massima attenzione nel recuperare il cache e altrettanta nel riposizionarlo nella maniera corretta. Prima di prenderlo, cercate di capire come è messo e come è assicurato.

The impregnable fort of Turrà - The sentry
Built between 1891 and 1895, the Fort Turra is located on a rocky place at 2,529 meters above sea level in the Col du Mont Cenis in a dominant position that allowed to easily control even the upper valley of Maurienne.
The fort is composed by two bastions surrounded by an impressive precipice to the east and to the west by a defensive rampart. The various buildings are scattered over an embankment. The fort has two entrances with a drawbridge and an observatory in the form of a medieval tower that offers very large and distant views. To protect artillery pieces, four casemates were built, with the slits facing the rock wall. A cable car ensured a fast connection Lanslebourg.
The effectiveness of the fort was demonstrated during the Italian attack of June 1940 when, despite a hail of bullets that devastated the outdoor facilities, the fort was able to block the passage of the Col du Mont Cenis, rejecting also several Italian infantry attacks . Circumvented by overwhelming forces of the Italian strong lay down their weapons only at the time of the signing of the armistice between Italy and France. In recognition of intrepid resistance to the French garrison was bestowed the honor of arms by the Italian troops.
The work remained unused until 1944, when the Germans 5th Gebirjager together with Italian regiment of paratroopers of the Folgore reoccupied. During the winter were several clashes that saw opposing hunters Alpine Germans and the French maquis but none was of great importance. In April 1945, the leaders of the French Resistance instead decided to take the works of the Mont Cenis and therefore bloody fighting took place; despite the value of the strong French fighters fell and remained in the hands of the Alpine Germans. Only at the end of the month the German High Command ordered the withdrawal of German troops in the Po valley, and so returned to the fort to its original owners. At the end of hostilities (a few days after the German retreat), the fort was finally abandoned.
Today the fort is abandoned, but the visit is possible, with great caution, as it is a building in state of disrepair for more than half a century.
In the cache there are the logbook, a monster pe,. a TB and the pencil. To preserve for as long as possible the cache, replace the container exactly into the initial position.
