Old houses: Manak’s House
English
One more of the oldest houses in Beograd. Only few left; keep and protect them, citizens of Beograd!
Manak's House was built in 1830 and is the last surviving example of the old Belgrade townhouses. It was named after its first owner, Manak Mijajlovic, Macedonian merchant. In the upper part of the house lived Manak’s family, while the ground floor housed a bakery and bistro, and later a post office and shop
Today Manak's House serves as a showroom where there is a collection of the Ethnographic Museum. It keeps the valuable collection Hristifor Crnilović containing jewelry, costumes, books, magazines, photographs and documents. Manak's house often hosts exhibitions, book presentations, poetry evenings and courses in weaving and pottery.

Manak's House as a muzeum
