Located West of Albury, about 3km along the Riverena Highway, the wetlands are an ecosystem of lagoons and billabongs are being restored after many years of farming and grazing.
Wonga is home to an abundance of native flora and fauna, a Wiradjuri campsite, an indigenous scar tree and ancient river red gums.
The wetlands incorporate seven lagoons covering around 80 hectares on the Murray River floodplain, 3km of walking paths and picnic and barbecue facilities.
More than 154 identified bird species frequent Wonga Wetlands. A full list is available from the information booth adjacent to the car park; how many can you tick off?
