Cuha Valley is one of the most popular tourist spot in the Bakony mountains. There are always a lot of tourist there. The nature trail along the Cuha Stream between Vinye (part of the Village Bakonyszentlászló) and the train station Porva-Csesznek is ca. 4-5 km long. You can leave your car near “Cuhavölgye Vendégház” (Cuha Valley Guest House - 47.359855, 17.823140), or start from the railway station of Vinye (47.360789, 17.819540) if you arrive by train. You should follow the red tourist path along the Cuha Stream. The path crosses the stream several time, but there is no bridge over: You have to cross the river either barefoot or use rubber boots (but it is a big fun!). Anyway, I’d suggest to put towels and clothing exchange into the bag if you visit the place with kids…
The cache itself is near the “forest classroom” a nice place in the middle of the path but better to approach it from the other side of the train bridge via the stairs to the monument. It’s a children friendly box: not so hard to find and loaded with small toys (initially). Please put similar gifts into the box if you visit the place (I have 3 boys, so a girlish gift would be nice first...)
The other end of the path is the Porva-Csesznek railway station: a very strange station in the middle of the forest - you can go there only on foot, no other way from there. I think it is the most beautiful train path in Hungary with regular train traffic. If the 4-5 km was enough, then you can take a train and travel back to Vinye. However the schedule could be better: there are only 3-4 trains a day (now at 11:43, 17:27 and 19:52).
