History
The church was designed by architects Potter and Hare who had previously worked on Chichester Cathedral and many other churches. The design makes use of local stone and lots of concrete allowing for big windows and slender columns. The Church of the Ascension replaces an earlier church on this site dedicated to St Christopher and despite two building contractors going out of business during construction the work was finished by a team headed by churchwarden at the time Robert Lavers.
If you do get the opportunity to go inside I suggest you do so. The interior is very striking and it is easy to see that Nikolaus Pevsner regarded it as one of the finest post war churches.
Anyway, on to the cache. To work out the coordinates, head to the east windows. There are twelve of them in two banks of 6. Assign them letters from A to L in a zig zag pattern from top to bottom of the left bank of 6 then the right bank of 6. Each window has a number of straight lines inside its frame (ie window A has 8 lines and window B has 12 as per the image below)
You will find the cache at N 50° ID.(F-4)G(J-8) W 004° A.(L-6)(F+1)(C+1) and you are looking for a bison tube. Checksums are 22 for the north coords and 23 for the west coords.
