AACC is an fast becoming a traditional way to get like minded people together even if only for a very short period of time. As time passes the bonds formed between fellow cachers are only strengthened by this regular get together. I am proud to be a part of GCHR and I am pleased to be hosting my first AACC. I look forward to seeing everyone come out for this one. 4:30pm to 6:00pm will be the official time and I will do the best I can to be there to meet the early birds.
The AACC is the brainchild of "Papa" from SNAP, a local geo-legend, who began this tradition during August of 2013. In August, 2013, Groundspeak ran a Challenge “31 Days of Geocaching” to get people to find a cache every day of the month. For each day found, cachers were awarded a souvenir. "Papa" came up with an idea to run a daily, weekday event to allow people to pick up an “Event” find during the work week. Because we formed a little support group at AACC events, Papa decided to make this an ongoing thing. Approximately every two weeks or so we are getting together to swap stories, plan trips and outings, trade trackables and maybe provide each other with tips and intel on caches in the area. The AACC regulars are taking turns hosting AACC events. This is my fourth hosting gig for this series of event caches.
Come on out and meet some local cachers. It is a chance to take a moment with friends in a random parking lot somewhere in the Hampton Roads area to get back in touch with your inner Geocacher.
