This short Multi geocache is located on the former ammunitions factory at Issy-Les-Moulineaux.
La Cartoucherie
FR: La Société Française de Munitions fabriquait des amorces, des cartouches de chasse et des munitions de guerre.
Elle fut créée par Joseph-Marin Gévelot (l'inventeur de l'amorce au fulminate de mercure) en 1823 à Paris, et elle déménage rapidement aux Moulineaux.
En 1867, 500 salariés travaillent à la société Gévelot. Le site compte alors 50 bâtiments répartis sur 7 hectares. En 1930, l'entreprise est à son apogée avec 3000 employés.
Un grand incendie ravage l'usine le 11 juillet 1973. La société ne s'en remettra jamais et dépose le bilan en janvier 1980.
Le site a été dépollué en 1993. On y trouve maintenant des immeubles et le Parc de la Résistance.
EN: The company Société Française de Munitions manufactured primers, shotgun cartridges and war ammunitions.
It has been created by Joseph-Marin Gévelot (inventor of the primer mercury fulminate) in 1823 in Paris, and it quickly moved to Moulineaux.
In 1867, 500 employees were working at the company Gévelot. The site then has 50 buildings spread over 7 hectares. In 1930, the company is at its peak with 3,000 employees.
A large fire destroyed the factory on July 11, 1973. The company has never recovered and filed for bankruptcy in January 1980.
The site was cleared in 1993. Now it includes buildings and the Resistance Park.
