Geocache Description:

HR Plivanje u Daničićevoj

EN Swimming in Daničićeva

HR

EN

Unknown Trešnjevka series wants to introduce lesser-known details of this part of Zagreb.

Built in 1958, this was the first indoor sports and recreational swimming facility, and for heating swimming pool water used the waste heat from a nearby power heating plant. Project architects Franjo Bahovec , Vladimir Antolić and Bozidar Tušek won in 1952 first prize and Franjo Bahovec prepared detailed design. The pool dimension is 25 x 16 meters with depth of 1.8 to 3.8 meters, with six lanes. The bearing structure of the building is made of concrete (except for the roof of the pool hall), and the steel lattice girders curvature radius of 25 m have a range of 30 meters, at that time the highest range for such mounting bars.

Žajina street was previously called Daničićeva, so the pool among the citizens for a long time was (and still is) called simply pool in Daničićeva. Many generations of school children have learned to swim there.
