Luontopolku lähtee rakennuksen pihapiiristä.
Suomun luontopolku on noin 200 m pitkä ja kiertelee Pohjois-Suomen oloissa melko harvinaisessa puronvarsilehdossa. Tällaiset metsäympäristön pienvedet ovat herkkiä muutoksille, jotka voivat muuttaa pienilmaston vaateliaille lajeille sopimattomaksi ja siksi ne jätetään metsänhoidollisten toimenpiteiden yhteydessä käsittelemättä. Puropainanteet ovat usein varjoisia ja viileitä elinympäristöjä, joiden kasvillisuus, sammal-, jäkälä- ja levälajisto sekä eläimistö ovat monipuolisia.
