Geocache Description:

This is one of a series of caches on a walk of around 4 miles in the Rippon Tor area.  Most of the walk is on moorland path/track and a little alongside the road. Please use the clearer paths rather than cutting across the gorse and bracken.

Please be aware of livestock.

From Top Tor head towards Pil Tor.

There is a cache to be found here if you haven't already found it (GC3EP2J). Pil Tor is known as an avenue tor because the middle part has been eroded away leaving two rocky outcrops forming ..... an avenue!

Now follow the wide path towards Tunhill Rocks where there are great views of Widecombe.

There is also a cache that can be found here as an extra to those on this walk - GC19Q5W. At Tunhill Rocks there are the remains of a hut circle and a homestead and on the North East side a granite trough can be seen.

Next follow the path downhill to the cache.

The weather on Dartmoor can change suddenly and unexpectedly and ALL types of weather conditions can be experienced. Please ensure that you have the correct clothing and map and compass (and know how to use them). Please do NOT rely solely on your GPS.

I would like to thank the Dartmoor National Park Authority for their kind permission to place this cache, which has been placed according to their geocaching guidelines.
