The Cache is only available when the museum is open.

The History of the Cache location:

Simon’s Town Museum is housed in "The Residency" which was built in 1777 as the official winter residence of the Dutch East India Company Governor at the Cape. It was here that he entertained important visitors to the Cape of Good Hope, during the winter when the DEIC fleet was at anchor in Simon’s Bay.

From 1813 Simon’s Town became the official naval base of the Royal Navy and the Colonial Authorities took possession of The Residency and altered it to accommodate a customs house, port captain’s office, post office, a school, a gaol and a magistrate’s court. The Resident Magistrate had his home and offices in the building and it served as Simon’s Town’s Magistrate’s Court until 1979. After the Magistrate’s Court moved to a new building, The Residency fell into disrepair.

Simon’s Town Museum was established in 1977 by the Simon's Town Historical Society and a group of volunteers. The Museum was originally housed in the old Simon’s Town Municipal complex, but the Historical Society and the volunteers renovated "The Residency" and the Museum moved into it in 1982.
The Residency was declared a National Moument in 1988.

Simon’s Town Museum has gone from strength to strength and is now a well-known community museum, which caters to a diverse audience.

About The Cache :

The cache is Placed in the Simon's Town Museum With Permission from the Board members. A Big thanks to Cathy from Simon’s Town Museum for all your help.
The Staff do know about the cache, but you need not interact with them to make the find. You are welcome to do so if you like.

Your GPS will take you to a window. At this window you will be with in 1m of the cache, But to get the cache you will need to go inside. The entrance is 4 meters to the left of the window. There is only one entrance.
Go in to the museum and take the first right and the cache is hidden behind the 2nd door by the window on your right.

The cache will be easy to spot and is well marked. But this is when the fun starts as you will need to do the following to get to the log book.

Step 1: Locate the key (see hint for a clue)

Step 2: Place the key in the key hole and turn the key to the ON position. (look in to the cache to see if it is on. It is a good idea to look before you turn the key so you know when it's on.)

Step 3: Find the correct combination of switching ,on the LHS brown panel to make the green light .

Step 4: look at the right panel and you should now see something that was not there before. Wave your hand passed this. You do not need to touch it.

Step 5: Unlock the padlock with the info you have just found.

Step 6: Sign the log book

Step 7: Reset everything so that the next person can have the same experience.

Step 8: Smile

If you are Stuck with the onsite puzzle there is a clue hidden in the Museum for you. But you will need to decipher the below first and then go looking for it.
