This Gljúfursárfoss is a fall in the East of Iceland (not to be confused with the Gljúfursárfoss that you can find in the South, nearby the famous Seljalandsfoss). The river Gljúfursá springs on the almost 1000m high Vindfellsfjöll and comes to the sea in the Vopnafjörður-fjord, 15 km East of the town with the same name.
The gravelroad from the Hellisheiði highlands to the Vopnafjörður goes over the river. Going north-east or east-north, we recommend a drive along this route to enjoy the 12-15% ups and downs... ;-)
As we didn't see many caches in this part of Iceland we - a Belgian family exploring Iceland for two weeks - installed a box near this great spot to share the discovery of the magnificent view with people passing by. Please don't hesitate to do some maintenance if necessary (we did the same for other geocachers and they appreciated it very much).
