Update: To future finders,
This cache has a bit of history being one of the first caches in
Tasmania, that is why I took over the maintenance of it from Jason
when he lost interest and didn't just let it die. It has frustrated
more than one cacher; including myself (4 or 5 visits before a
find), throughout it's life for a few reasons, one being it's on a
slope, another that it is off trail and probably the main one being
that the co-ordinates are a little off. I have resisted the urge to
alter the original co-ordinates that were provided by Jason all
those years ago because it can be seen as a "right of passage" as
it were to find this Launceston cache with the original
information, it can be found and has been found before other
cachers included updates in their logs; I for example found the
cache using a 1:25,000 map and a ruler from the local library
because I didn't have a GPS at the time - it can be found, but
maybe not in the timescale afforded by cachers these days. So you
can either use the updated co-ordinates from other cachers, or use
Jason's data and use trial & error to find the cache in the
spirit of caching past. It's not one for 'numbers' people, it is I
guess what you would call an "Old School" cache.
Regarding a hint - the original cache did have a hint, but it's
usefulness became moot when the local council chopped down the tree
it referred to. I shall visit the cache site again in the near
future and see if I can come up with another suitable hint for
those having trouble.
