La Forêt de Chambiers : ses chênes et ses hêtres couvrent une surface allant de Durtal (au Nord) à Beauvau (au Sud), et de Bourgneuf-La Chapelle-Saint-Laud (à l'Ouest) à L’Ermitaie (à l'Est).
À l’époque médiévale, la forêt se déployait bien au-delà de ses lisières actuelles.
Elle était propriété du Comte d’Anjou au XIe siècle puis des seigneurs de Durtal au début du XIIe siècle. Elle assouvissait les besoins primaires des habitants : nourriture (gibier, cueillette) et bois (chauffage, poutres de construction). Elle jouait également un rôle défensif contre les croisades militaires.
Fortement pourvue en gibier, elle devint un domaine de chasse particulièrement apprécié de la noblesse locale et des rois séjournant au Château de Durtal. C’est en souvenir de ces battues princières que son carrefour principal a été baptisé "la Table au Roy" (ou du Roi).

The Forest of Chambiers : its oaks and beech trees cover an area from Durtal (on the North) to Beauveau (on the South) and from Bourgneuf-La Chapelle-Saint-Laud (on the West) to the Ermitaie (on the East).
In medieval times, the forest had expanded far beyond its current limits.
It was the property of the Count of Anjou in the eleventh century and the lords of Durtal in the early twelfth century. It satisfied the basic needs of the people: food (game, gathering) and wood (heat, beams). It also played a defensive role against military crusades. Due to its large quantity of game, it become a hunting area enjoyed by the local nobility and kings coming from the Castle of Durtal.
In memory of these old times the hub was named "la Table au Roy" : the King Table. (Roy is the old french name for Roi = King).
