NASA Astronaut and Geocacher Rick Mastracchio (geocacher: AstroRM) will be making a public appearance on September 10, 2014 at Crosby High School 300 Pierpont Road in Waterbury, Connecticut. This event is open to the public and free to attend.
We will be hosting a geocaching event at the posted coordinates at Crosby High School from 5pm to 6pm to talk geocaching and trade travel bugs. Everyone is encouranged to attend the event inside of the High School gym after this geocaching event at 630pm to see NASA Astronaut Rick Mastracchio speak about his recent NASA mission on the International Space Station (ISS). AstroRM launched to the ISS in November 2013 and returned to Earth in May 2014. During his time on the ISS AstroRM logged the FTF on the ISS geocache (GC1BE91) and carried along a travel bug (TB5JJN1) with him from the 5th grade class of the Chase Elementary School in Waterbury, CT. Mastracchio will be returning the travel bug to Waterbury during this event. AstroRM is a native of Waterbury, Connecticut and attended the Chase Elementary School and Crosby High School before graduating from the University of Connecticut (UCONN).
