Fig Tree bay is the most popular beach in Protaras, and one of the most beautiful beaches on the whole island, as well as the 2nd most fabulous beach in Europe, according to Trip Advisor 2014.
The place was named after the numerous Fig Trees located at the back of the sandy coast, providing a good shade to visitors and giving an accent to this lovely beach.
You guess it right. The geocache is placed on the tiny-rocky island less than 90 meters from the shore. To get there and log the cache, you'll need to get wet. If you have a waterproof smartphone or GPS device, that would be a great opportunity to take advantage of it. Alternatively, you can just use a waterproof case or put your devices in an air-tight plastic bag (like many did).
The waters are absolutely amazing and crystal clear! DON'T FORGET YOUR SNORKELING GEAR AND WATERPROOF CAMERA!!
The water from the shore to the island is pretty shallow, and all around the island there are smooth rocks that you can step on and feed the colorful fish!
WARNING!! : THE TERRAIN OF THE ISLAND IS VERY ROUGH! (It's a T5) THERE ARE VERY VERY SHARP ROCKS! THERE IS NO WAY TO GET ON THE ISLAND WITHOUT CROCKS, FLIP FLOPS, SLIPPERS OR WATER FOOTWEAR!! STEPPING ON WITHOUT FOOTWEAR WILL PROBABLY CAUSE INJURY. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!
ALSO, BE AWARE OF MUGGLES!
Cache Notes:
- It is located at the FRONT side of the island! (The side seen from the beach)
- It is a small but not tiny white cylindrical box, inside a waterproof (hopefully) Plastic IKEA bag
- It has room for some small trackables
- It contains a Logbook, a tiny pencil and an FTF CERTIFICATE!
- The island is only accessible by swimming, or by Kayak.
I WISH YOU GOOD LUCK AND I AM SURE YOU WILL HAVE A LOT OF FUN! Also, feel free to leave a favorite point!
