Die Franzenshöhe, auf einem kleinen Plateau unterhalb des Stilfserjochs gelegen, erfüllte in seiner langen und abwechslungsreichen Geschichte unterschiedlichste Funktionen. Das Gebäude wurde Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts als Kaserne für das österreichische - ungarische Militär erbaut. Den Namen Franzenshöhe erhielt das Plateau von Kaiser Franz Joseph I, der mit seinem Gefolge einige Zeit dort verweilte.

"Franzenshöhe", situato su un piccolo altipiano in prossimità del Passo Stelvio (Stilfserjoch), ha assolto a diverse funzioni nell'arco della sua lunga e movimentata esistenza. L'edificio fu costruito all'inizio del 19° sec. come caserma per i militari dell'impero austro-ungarico. Il nome deriva dall'Imperatore Francesco Giuseppe I, che vi soggiornò con il suo seguito per un breve periodo.

The Franzenshöhe, resting on a plateau below Stilfserjoch, has fulfilled various functions over the course of its long and eventful history. The building was erected at the beginning of the 19th century to act as a barracks for the Austro-Hungarian army. Emperor Franz Joseph I, who spent some time here with his retinue, named the plateau Franzenshöhe.
