Le village ostréicole
Inscrit à l'inventaire des sites pittoresques, le quartier ostréicole du village de L'herbe mérite certainement que l'on s'y attarde longuement. Les caches de l’ami Listal33 (GC40TXQ & GC40V0B) vous y conduiront et vous offriront de belles vues sur le bassin.
La Villa Algérienne et la Chapelle Algérienne
Après avoir fait fortune en Algérie, où il construisit notamment le port d'Alger, Léon Lesca revint en France sous le second Empire et se rendit acquéreur d'un immense domaine s'étendant de Claouey au Cap Ferret. Léon Lesca introduisit sur la Presqu'île la culture de la vigne, l'exploitation rigoureuse de la forêt, et même le célèbre mimosa.
En 1865, il fit édifier à L'Herbe une vaste construction de style mauresque, à laquelle vint s'ajouter un magnifique jardin de 25 hectares. Après sa mort, en 1913, la "Villa Algérienne" fut progressivement laissée à l'abandon. Elle fut finalement démolie en 1965, après avoir été vendue, puis remplacée par un immeuble sans cachet. Seule une partie de l'ancienne grille subsiste encore aujourd'hui. Réservée à l'époque à sa seule famille, la Chapelle de L'Herbe a également subi par endroits l'influence du style mauresque. Dès son inauguration, elle a servi d’église aux villages ostréicoles. Demeurée parfaitement intacte, la Chapelle de la Villa Algérienne se trouve sur le front de mer, à l'extrémité sud du boulevard de la Plage.
Pourquoi "VERT" dans le nom de la cache?
Notre première cache posée (GC3VHY2) était une boîte verte, avec un stylo vert, un log book vert et des objets d'échange verts. Ainsi est née l'idée de placer les caches qui ont suivi sous le signe du "VERT" et de proposer un challenge consistant à y déposer de préférence des objets "VERTs". Ce challenge ne peut malheureusement pas concerner les caches de taille nano ou micro.
La cache contient un log book et un micro crayon. Merci de bien la replacer discrètement et telle que vous l’aurez trouvée.

The oyster village
Registered on the inventory of places of interest, the oyster district of the village of l'Herbe deserves certainly that we linger there for a long time. Geocaches of our friend Listal33 (GC40TXQ & GC40V0B) will lead you to it and will offer you beautiful views on the pond.
The Algerian Villa and the Algerian Chapel
Having made a fortune in Algeria, where he built the harbour of Algiers, Léon Lesca returned in France during the second Empire and bought a large domain extending from Claouey to the Cap Ferret. Léon Lesca introduced on the Peninsula the culture of the vineyard, the rigorous exploitation of the forest, and even the famous mimosa.
In 1865, he built in l'Herbe a vast construction of Moresque style, to which came to be added a magnificent 25 hectare garden. After its death, in 1913, the " Algerian Villa " was gradually neglected. It was finally demolished in 1965, having been sold, then replaced by a building without style. Only a part of the former fence remains today. Reserved for a time to his only family, the Chapel of l'Herbe also underwent by places the influence of the Moresque style. From its inauguration, it was of use as church to the oyster villages. Remained perfectly intact, the Chapel of the Algerian Villa is on the sea front, in the south extremity of the boulevard of the Beach.
Why "VERT" in the name of the cache?
My first geocache ( GC3VHY2) was a green box, with a green pen, a green log book and green items for exchange. So was born the idea to place the caches which followed under the sign of the "VERT" ("GREEN" in French) and to propose a challenge consisting in depositing there rather "VERT" objects. This challenge cannot unfortunately concern the caches in nano or micro size.
