Geocache Description:

A short multi at St John Church Kingsley that should not take long to complete.
The road here can be busy at times, if arriving by car please drive and park sensibly.
Although there is a small parking area to the rear of the church, the easiest place to park is on Westbrook Road, waypoint provided.

The church's construction was driven largely by the Rev. James Hall, the vicar of Frodsham, its foundation stone was laid in 1849 and building work completed in 1850. It was consecrated on Tuesday 7 January 1851, a day with, as is still typical of these parts, heavy rain!

The church is one of only eleven designed by the head of the Scott dynasty, the same family as the architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott who designed Liverpool Cathedral. It is built of porous red sandstone, lined with brick. The vicar's "desk" was in the body of the naive just below the pulpit, as would have been the practice at the time. The stone faces on either side of the porch are said to have been inspired by two lady benefactors of the church.

This is a very simple 6 stage multi, the listed coordinate will take you to stage 1.

Stage 1
S = the count of the letter 'W's in the main dedication plaque to WW1 "To the Glory....".

While facing the dedication, take the left hand path (sorry about that choice!) and at the next fork bear left again, carry on until you can have a rest.

Stage 2
Stand immediately to the right of the bench, as viewed from a sitting position on the bench, close enough to place your left hand on it, then turn to face magnetic north.
Within your field of view you will be able to see a black disc with golden markings.

N = the integer value of the marking that points to the left.

Make your way back to the entrance, and exit the graveyard, at the junction of the drive and road cross over to the footpath. Turn left, continue up the hill, and stop at the lych gate.

Stage 3
H = the sum of the carved decorative openings on both sides of the lych gate.

Passing through the gate follow the path until you reach the main entrance of the church. Enter the porch.

Stage 4
O = the number of "X" shapes formed by the roof trusses.
E = the number of permanent notice boards in the porch.

Exit the porch, turn right and follow the path round to the rear of the church.
Carry on until you get to a set of stone steps with iron railings.

Stage 5
J = the number of vertical panels in the door minus E
K = the number of square bolt heads in the door
T = K - ( (N*E) + (S - J) )

The cache is, as the series dictates, a micro, and can be found, using letter substitution and a bit of basic maths, at :-

53º 16.STJ 002º 40.OHN

When ready to find the cache, exit the church via the lych gate.

Poor satellite coverage.
The number of satellites that are "overhead" may be an issue when using a GPS in tree cover. If you are in an area with lots of trees, then you may not get a 'signal lock' and your location may not be accurate or even displayable.

Two for the price of one!
To complete all geo-activities at this location you could also visit Trigpointing UK to log waypoint TP11435 Kingsley Church Spire. Also, to the south of church, on the left gate post, you will find an Ordnance Survey Cut Bench mark.

Congratulations to Skippy and Pingu, PrincessPinga&SEDRoo on being FTF July 14th 2014.
Well done Sas, second to find soon after.
