This cache is located just off the Wales Coast Path. It is possible to find this, and the other caches in the series, on a circular walk of approximately 8 miles starting from the National Trust, Porth y Swnt Interpretation Centre in Aberdaron. Care should be taken on the path, which has a steep drop to one side, but offers stunning views across Cardigan Bay.
Can you see these lumps and bumps? There are six platforms dug into steep east facing slopes of Mynydd y Gwyddel immediately above Porth Felen. These house platforms are typical of the Medieval period and represent an advance on the smaller hut circle type dwellings on Mynydd Bychestyn. Could these houses and the enclosed fields (strip fields) nearby be related?
Allwch chi weld y twmpathau a’r gwrymiau? Mae chwe llwyfan wedi’u cloddio i’r llechwedd serth sy’n wynebu’r dwyrain ar Fynydd Gwyddel uwchben Porth Melen. Dyma olion tŷ llwyfan sydd yn nodweddiadol o dai'r Oesoedd Canol ac yn cynrychioli datblygiad fu ar ôl codi’r tai crynion ar Fynydd Bychestyn. Tybed oes yna gysylltiad rhwng y tai hyn a’r lleiniau cyfagos?
