Geocache Description:

Ancient Kirinthos

This cache will bring you to the remains of Ancient Kirinthos. The town started as a prehistoric Ioanian settlement. It is mentioned by Homer as one of the cities that participated in the campaign against Troy. Its importance declined due to internal struggles and probably destroyed by the Corinthians in the 6th century BC.

The Acropolis is on top of a 30m. cliff. The remains of the wall above the river are from the 6th century BC while the wall on the north is from the Hellenistic period.
