Geocache Description:

Tableau (noun): a picture, as of a scene.

Origin: 1690 1700; < French: board, picture, Middle French tablel, diminutive of table

Had a nice little walk the other day with the Geodad, a picnic, the Yellow Brick and an amo tin. Geocaching? Well… Maybe! This was one of the last of our hills to conquer on what is now a rather small list of places to go on the Central Coast Although I am sure that there is more to be found!). GZ has an excellent view of different parts of Woy Woy, Phegans Bay, and even with a sharp eye the water tank up the top of Terrigal can be seen. Hopefully, the cache will be able to show you another interesting place. However, first there is a little effort, in order to achieve the award!

Waypoint 1 is at a, well, table? A large flat/table like rock sits on top of another large rock, however getting to it isn’t going to be too easy. Underneath this large sandstone table lies a rather bendy eating implement, some may call it a stick? On this are the co-ordinates for the cache. If you choose that this small climb is not for you, do not fear! There is another way to find the cache, however, it is tricky and will be harder than climbing the rock.

To understand where the sandstone table is, you must firstly discover where I am sitting. If I am with 2.765224742 SPoONS and 5.155482706 KNIFeS at a different sort of table. Do you know where am I sitting?

There are two different paths to the cache. Both are a well deserving 3.5 terrain. The climbing of the table is where the four terrain comes from. One starts directly from the suggested parking spot and climbs as well as follows the ridge to the cache. This way will require some bush bashing, however has some great views. The other way is a very steep ascent up to WP1. We recommend to go up the easier way, and come back down the steep side. This gave us the best of everything.

If you choose to not retrieve the instructions at waypoint 1, another puzzle of a different sort of table is needed to be solved:

Let us suppose that I eight some friends over for dinner and have a bowl containing 703 pistachios as an appetizer. If each person takes one more pistachio than the previous ( so the first takes one, the second takes two, the third takes 3 and so forth). Considering that the bowl makes multiple trips around the table, how many pistachios will the last person take?

When you have the solution to this problem let this number be called ‘A’. Multiply this number by the number of guests. This will be your bearing to follow for a total of A + 20 meters.

At the final cache, you are looking for a 30 cal amo tin with the same view that is seen in the image above. Please replace WP1 out of reach from the lower level (this will make sense when you are there). Please feel free to add images of your experience, however, none giving away the whereabouts of the final container.

Happy Caching!
