[FIN] Peruskätkö sijaitsee Olkiluodon Vierailukeskuksen alueella luonnonkauniissa paikassa merenrannalla Voimaa luonnosta -havaintopolun varrella. Vierailukeskus on kiinnostava kohde kaikenikäisille. Keskuksessa voi tutustua muun muassa Sähköä uraanista -tiedenäyttelyyn tai sen läheisyydessä kulkevaan Voimaa luonnosta -havaintopolkuun. Geokätkö on haettavissa Olkiluodon Vierailukeskuksen aukioloaikoina kesäkaudella (touko–syyskuu) joka päivä klo 10–20 ja talvikaudella (loka–huhtikuu) ma–pe 10–18, la–su 12–18.
Kätköpaikalta sinun on mahdollista havaita Teollisuuden Voima Oyj:n ydinvoimalaitosyksiköt OL1:n ja OL2:n sekä rakenteilla olevan OL3:n. Laitosyksiköiden läheisyydessä on myös erilaisia toimisto- ja varastorakennuksia. Lisäksi voit havaita noin sadan metrin korkeudelle yltävän tuulivoimalan.
Olkiluoto on saari Pohjanlahden rannikolla Eurajoen kunnassa. Sen erottaa mantereesta kapea Karhukarinrauma-niminen salmi, johon laskee myös Lapinjoki. Suuren osan saaresta omistaa Teollisuuden Voima. Olkiluodon saaresta on viimeisten vuosikymmenten aikana kehittynyt ainutlaatuinen ydinvoiman osaamiskeskus. Saarella on voimalaitosyksiköiden lisäksi muun muassa voimalaitosjätteen loppusijoitustila, käytetyn ydinpolttoaineen välivarasto sekä tutkimusvaiheessa oleva käytetyn ydinpolttoaineen loppusijoitusluola ONKALO.
Olkiluodon läheisyydessä sijaitsee myös Selkämeren kansallispuisto, joka muodostuu etupäässä uloimman saariston karujen luotojen ja saarien nauhasta Kustavista Merikarvialle. Rauman ja Eurajoen edustalla Selkämeren kapeaa ulkosaariston vyöhykettä leimaa vahva merellisyys. Ulkoluodot ovat puuttomia tai lähes puuttomia, joko täysin pensaattomia tai niissä kasvaa tiheää katajikkoa. Rannoilla voi olla tiheää tyrnipensaikkoa sekä yksittäisiä tuulen tuivertamia puita.
Vierailukeskuksen ympäristössä Olkiluodon saarella on myös luonnonsuojelualue, Liiklankarin metsä, joka kuuluu vanhojen metsien suojeluohjelmaan ja on perustettu valtion luonnonsuojelualueeksi. Alue on edustava saaristo- ja maisemakokonaisuus, jolla on merkitystä eläimistön lisääntymisalueena ja muuttolintujen levähdyspaikkana. Alue kuuluu Natura 2000 -verkostoon.

[EN] The traditional cache is located in the Visitor Centre area in Olkiluoto, on the Power from Nature observation trail by the sea in a location full of natural beauty. The Visitor Centre is an interesting place for visitors of all ages. It offers diverse attractions, such as the science exhibition Electricity from Uranium, and the Power from Nature observation trail that runs near the Centre. The geocache is accessible during the opening hours of the Olkiluoto Visitor Centre: in the summer season (May–September), every day between 10–20 and in the winter season, Monday to Friday between 10–18, Saturday to Sunday between 12–18.
From the cache, you can observe Teollisuuden Voima Oyj's nuclear power plants: OL1 and OL2, as well as the OL3 plant unit under construction. There are also various office and warehouse buildings in the vicinity of the units. The wind power plant reaching to a height of about one hundred metres is also visible from the cache location.
Olkiluoto is an island on the coast of the Gulf of Bothnia in the municipality of Eurajoki. It is separated from the mainland by the narrow Karhukarinrauma strait, where the Lapinjoki river also drains. Teollisuuden Voima owns a large part of the island. In the past decades, the Island of Olkiluoto has developed into a unique centre of nuclear power expertise. In addition to the nuclear power plant units, the island houses e.g. a final disposal repository for operating waste, an interim repository for spent nuclear fuel as well research facility ONKALO, which will be expanded into a final disposal facility for spent nuclear fuel.
The Bothnian Sea National Park is also located near Olkiluoto. It primarily consists of a string of barren islets and islands in the outermost archipelago between the municipalities of Kustavi and Merikarvia. The narrow offshore archipelago in the Bothnian Sea off Rauma and Eurajoki has a strong marine character. The outermost islets are almost or completely barren of trees, and lack also shrubs completely or are covered with a dense juniper shrubbery. The shores can be characterised by thick sea-buckthorn bushes and single wind-blown trees.
There is a nature conservation area also on the Island of Olkiluoto, next to the Visitor Centre: the Liiklankari Forest, which is included in the protection programme of old forests and established as a Government nature reserve. It is a representative archipelago and landscape entity with a significant role as an area for wildlife reproduction and a resting site for migratory birds. This nature conservation area is included in the Natura 2000 network.
