Part of Skyline Wilderness Park, the Martha Walker California Native Habitat Garden is located on the site of Napa State Hospital's former dump. Created in 1985 by Ralph and Evelyne Ingols, this unique garden is named in honor of Martha Walker, a Napa gardening icon.
Walk the paths of the garden and visit the six reference points. Use the posted plaques to answer the following questions to determine the location of the cache.

There are many entrances to the garden, several with beautifully wrought gates. Once inside, the trails wind throughout the garden and the reference points may be visited in any order. As you walk the trails, enjoy not only the abundant plantings, but also the very active animal life. On my visit I saw (and heard) birds, including quail, squirrels (attacking the bird feeders with relish!), butterflies, lizards, and mosquitoes. Scattered throughout the area you will find numerous benches, picnic tables, sheltered seating areas, bird houses, bird baths, and, strangely enough, old mailboxes. This garden has a very quirky character and it is a delightful place to spend an hour or two!
The summer hours for Skyline Wilderness Park are 8:00am-7:00pm. There is a $5.00 charge to enter the park by car.
