Ce joli lavoir restauré récemment était le lieu de rassemblement privilégié de la population jusqu'en 1962 où l'eau courante fut installée. Les femmes y faisaient la lessive ou bien récupéraient l'eau nécessaire au foyer, les troupeaux de bêtes s'y arrêtaient pour boire après la rude montée depuis les pâtures.
Le lavoir est alimenté par une source qui jaillit dans le parc du chateau attenant. Un réservoir restauré et visible derrière la grille assure un débit continu d'eau dans le lavoir. Pour savoir pourquoi le seigneur a accepté que cette source soit utilisée par les habitants, lisez l'historique affiché par les archéologue qui ont restauré ce lavoir (n'hésitez pas à entrer dans le lavoir par la porte, elle n'est pas verrouillée). Vous aurez de même l'explication de la raison de ces ponts jetés au dessus de la route.
Vous aurez une belle vue sur le chateau, classé monument historique et dans lequel la légende dit qu'un roi a passé une nuit sur le chemin du retour vers Paris.

This lovely wash-house was renovated a few years ago and used to be the place where all inhabitants gathered before the installation of the water network in 1962. Woman went there to wash clothes or get water for the house. In addition herds of cows stopped to drink water after the long road from the fields.
The wash-house is supplied by a source coming from the castle park. A tank, also renovated, is visible on the other side of the street and ensure a continuous flow of water. Inside the wash-house is explained why the Lord accepted to provide water to inhabitant. Unfortunately it is not translated in English. I will do it later on and post it.
Do not forget to have a look at the castle, historical monument, in a constant process of renovation. It is said that a King of France spent a night there on his way back to Paris...
