The Clean Up:
This event will take place on SATURDAY 23 AUGUST 2014 at 11:00am and finishing around 1:00pm.
A traditional litter pick CITO - Rubbish bags will be provided. I Have a few litter pickers but please bring your own pick up stick if you have one!! All that is needed is an hour or so of your time to walk the route and find litter to place into your bin bag. Chatting, and generally having fun around is strongly encouraged! There are also a few caches around the lake to find if you haven't already done so.Unfortunately I am unable to prebook the weather so please come prepared! Old clothes and sensible shoes or boots are definitely the order of the day, maybe even wellies. but if you have your own work or gardening gloves please bring them along.
There is 13km of trail available to use to litter pick from, including horse trails, public footpaths, permissive footpaths and of course there is around Stewartby lake itself (all of this is owned by the forest centre). Dogs are allowed in these areas and in the outside picnic area to the back of the main building (Just dont walk through the building itself to get to it, please use the side gate by the childrens play area!) However in the centre of this vast area is a small area called the wetlands - this is a managed nature reserve which is a specific entrance fee access area only where dogs are not allowed, due to the wildlife and nesting birds. We do not intend litter picking in here, but so you are aware and now what to look for there are signs to various entrance points of the wetlands indicating a tciket is needed (although some members of the public and claim they can't read signs, wasn't a sign or they can't read English, although the sign of a dog that has been crossed out is widely acknowledged as no dogs!) but please ask if you have any questions!
