Geocache Description:

Hart's Mill was named after James A Hart who built a mill here on the Caney River in the 1870's. The mill grounded the meal and flour for the community and the town grew. Unfortunately the town and mill were almost destroyed because of a huge flood on May 15, 1885. The flood was the worst ever to hit this part of the county. The onslaught of the flood lasted for about 8 hours but the damage was unbelievable. There were lives lost and homes were washed away. After the flood many of the people moved to Hewins and the town of Hart's Mill died. The mill itself continued for a few more years and then it closed and Hart's Mill was no more. Millstones from the mill can be seen here on Dalton Road. You can see a few stone building ruins south of the river in the field. You are looking for a small red plastic heart. Please bring your own pen and Happy Caching.
