Fables tell of an ancient, Golden Frog who would appear to save the world in times of great need. Under full moons he would gather the great frog leaders...who would swim up from the depths of the Inks Lake...and he would speak to them with bold words and wisdom from atop a giant pile of lilypads that rose high up into the sky from the murky depths of the lake. If times were so dire that they called for action, the Golden Frog would ride forth atop a heavily armored badger, shimmering in the moonlight and wielding a lollipop lance.
Thousands of years have passed and the ancient frog tribes have disbanded. The time of frogs and the time of monsters have passed and given way to the time of men. And though history is cyclic, no one knows when or if the Golden Frog will return to usher forth a new age of frogs and monsters. For now...the saga of the valiant Golden Frog has been lost to the ages...and only the old ones recall the lessons that he taught and the victories that he won.
As times grow dark and our outlook bleak, men will sometimes hear the gravelly humming of ghostly frog voices from the furthest shores of the Inks Lake at night...sometimes ringing low and heavy the sounds of eerie eldritch tunes...echoing off of the mist-covered lake and rising into the blackness above the Old Inks Bridge near where the lost Golden Frog once stood atop his mountain of lilypads.
Men will seek the spot high above the lake where the Golden Frog once addressed the great frog peoples (the exact spot of which is now obstructed by the man-made Old Inks Bridge), and only those favored by the enigmatic Spirit Frog will be able to mark its location true.
