Enchanted Rock
IMPORTANT NOTES: This cache in in The Carnivores boulder area and is in a low (cave-like) crawlspace beneath a giant boulder...larger adults may not be able to access this cache. The coordinates bring you to the edge of the crawlspace...GPS will not pick up inside the crawlspace. This geocache is within about 15 feet of the coordinate location. From the coordinates walk forward into the space between the boulders then take an immediate left into the low crawlspace. There is also a back entrance to the crawlspace which may be a bit of an easier route.
A FLASHLIGHT is not required, but it could be helpful as the geocache is in a dimly lit area. According to the park rangers this is not an area with high snake activity, as it has relatively high traffic due to rock climbers (i.e., muggles) bouldering around in the immediate area. But you never know, so you should still use caution.
BYOP (this means "Bring Your Own Pen"). A couple of them were left in the cache, but they often get taken so bring one to be safe.
Original contents include cool small toys, buttons, log book, and a trackable geotag. WOW!!

STORY
Back in the days before the dawn of man, monsters ruled this planet. One fateful evening spaceships appeared in the sky, shooting laser beams at the monsters which turned the monsters into frogs (this is how frogs came to live on our planet). But the aliens had flying creatures as pets who knew that what the aliens were doing was wrong, and they used their knowledge and flying skills to help the monsters scare off the aliens. Those flying pets of the aliens decided to stay and make Earth their home, and the monsters called them owls. This is how owls came to live on our planet.
The monsters and owls became close friends, and to celebrate their alliance they decided to throw a dance party under every full moon. The first such dance party was held on a giant rock which the monsters called the Enchanted Rock. The monsters lived in the cave on top of the rock.
That magical time of monsters was followed by the time of the frogs. However, through those eras...and to this day...the monsters and owls dance under every full moon. It is said by the ancient ones that by continuing this tradition they are able to keep the aliens from coming back to our planet with their laser beams.
LAFO the Green Monster is the monster in charge of throwing these dance parties, which they like to throw on top of the fabled Enchanted Rock. However, they only do this when no one is around and they can hide from people pretty good. Green Monster's home is near the Enchanted Rock, and if you are one of the lucky few, maybe you can find him and pay him a visit. Green Monster is afraid of muggles though, so please re-hide him well after enjoying your visit with him.
Green Monster is a cool dude, but one day he lost his temper when PARTY DANCE MUSIC DELIVERY GUY was late delivering the the latest vinyl dance records! Green Monster got so mad, well... you'll have to read the HINT to find out what happened next!!!!!!!!!!!
Green Monster is friends with the Blue Monster and the Red Monster and they like to party together whenever they can.
Another thing some people like to talk about is that, while still only in kindergarten, Green Monster was almost drafted into the Monster Army where they NEVER have dance parties....but luckily Green Monster evaded the bad monsters and stays in hiding at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area.

NEW FEATURE!! Post or e-mail me your picture of you with each of the three monsters (you have to go to all three monster geocaches to do this...don't need to include your face, just prove you found the monster). Here is a list...in order...of the geocachers who have accomplished this great feat!! When you post your third and final picture, you must also put a message informing me that it is your third one and list the dates of your first two finds. Any monster cache finds prior to June 1, 2014 get grandfathered in for those finds (you don't have to go find them again nor post pictures for those geocaches, but it would be cool if you did)!
