The Koonung trail is a reserve slivered beside the 6 lane freeway, sandwiched alongside a babbling wetland and a towering wall of sound (unlike Phil Spectre)
GZ offers the adventurous cacher an up-close appreciation of the curved clear deflection barrier along the southern side of the Eastern Freeway extension.

It won the 1998 Victorian Architectural Medal, the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (Victoria) Joseph Reed Award for Urban Design, and the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (National) Walter Burley Griffin Award for Urban Design.

And it is a haven for local graffitti artists. depending on which approach you take getting to GZ, you will either have a peacfull bush bash, or a close inspection of local art-work that adorns the walls above the tunnel.
The original cache (Wave Rock GC43586) has been replaced 4 times due to rising water levels in about 12 months. the most notable removal turned up floating down the Yarra in Kew and was discovered by a muggle canoeist who called the CO to report the find!
This area will not suffer a fate so aquatic, but as it is a completely different hide, the original 60 finders are more than welcome to find again. Of those, the 8 generous souls who favoured me with Favourite points are welcome to reclaim them if they wish, or leave them on the archived listing for posterity.
You will be spitting distance from passing motorists, but unable to be seen by them.
You cannot retrieve this from the roadside, and attempting to would not only be futile and folly, but also V dangerous. Just don't do it.
