Letterboxing in SGL 192 Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

bd's: I plan to archive most of these letterbox caches that I put out back in 2014. The gamelands have changed so much since then that the directions don't really make any sense any more. Today I was here checking on another cache and decided that today was the day to archive this one. Thanks to everyone who took the time to go hunting for this one.

Geocache Description:

This is an old school letterbox.  You will be looking for a plastic ammo can in the woods, but you will not have the final coordinates.  It is hidden in an ordinary fashion - nothing devious.

Follow the directions below to find the cache.  If you follow the directions carefully you shouldn't have any trouble finding it.

Please be sure to rehide the cache at least as good as you found it so that it doesn't get muggled!

NOTE: May 5, 2021
Today I went out to scout this cache with Beerbatterbilly. There has been a lot of lumbering in this area, and there is debris everywhere. Most of the debris is fairly new, but we did find the cache between 2 older (and generally bigger) fallen trees mixed in with the new trimmings. I am slightly modifying the directions to this cache. Also, I'm adding some pictures to help you get to where you are going. Good Luck!!

  • This cache is in the Game Lands.  Be sure to follow all Game Land rules and regulations, and wear orange during hunting season.  Avoid this cache during deer season!!!
  • Since this is a letterbox-hybrid there is a stamp and an ink pad in the container.  It is NOT swag.  Please leave them in the container.
  • If you collect letterbox stamps go ahead and stamp your book.  The log book is large enough for you to stamp it with your stamp if you have one, but it is not required.

OK, here we go.  Follow the directions below and you should end up at the cache

  • Begin at the listed coordinates.
  • As you are nearing your turn into the woods you might notice a newer trail leading off to the left and another newer trail angling off to the right. Walk right past those.
  • Soon after passing the newer trails you will a fork in the road. Several feet before you get to the fork you will see a newly cut stump on your left. There are 2 pictures below showing Beerbatterbilly standing on the stump and pointing in the direction of the cache.
  • Enter the woods at this stump. You may not be able to take a completely straight line to the cache because of all the debris. However, do your best to follow in the general direction of Bills' arm.
  • Go straight in for about 180'.
  • You should see two fallen logs that are a bit older than most of the debris. I'm adding a picture of what we saw today on the way in, one of Beerbatterbilly standing on top of the cache, and one of the actual hide.
