Geocache Description:

This is a series of geocaches that you DO NOT HAVE TO DO! It is not for everyone. There is no one forcing you to do these and if you select to undertake the challenge you are doing so at your own risk! This is a series which is designed for the ultra keen geocacher. Someone who loves the adventure of a good hard cache which could include bush bashing, rock hopping and climbing, heights, cliffs and caves, hiking and some precarious positions. It is not for everyone.

You must have a good level of fitness to attempt any of these and need to be prepared for each and every one of them with the correct safety equipment. Once again, no one is forcing you to do these, but if you want to give yourself a bit of a challenge then why not have a crack! It is strongly recommended that you do this with another person because if something does go wrong you could be in a very bad position!

Always let someone know where you are going and what time you are expected to be back....

This cache should only be attempted by those who are physically fit and over 15 years of age (don’t bring the kids). There are cliffs, climbing and heights involved. Phone reception seems pretty good in the area. BYO PEN

#1

There are two ways you can complete the puzzle for this cache. Plan A which is the intended way, fun and easy way and slightly different to anything you may have done before. Or Plan B which will take you quite some time and will provide you with a head ache or two along the way. I strongly suggest you follow Plan A!! Good luck to you if you don’t….

PLAN A

This is a puzzle with a difference. You will need to use the provided photos in conjunction with directions to find the geocache, making it a bit more challenging.

The starting point is the beginning of the trail – picture 1. It is difficult to pick up from the street but it is there (look to the right of the Nari ave sign). There is parking right in front of the trail. Follow the trail up the hill between the houses.

Follow the trail to the left along the back of the houses until there is a fork in the trail (about 10-15m along the back of the houses). Turn right and begin heading up the hill towards the cliff. It is a barely visible trail so I’ve included an image of where you need to turn right – picture 2 (until fires change what it all looks like again).

Follow this trail until it turns into a fork. Turn left and head towards the cave shown in picture 3. Keep to the left of the rocks until you reach the cave.

When you are standing in this position and can see exactly what is shown in picture 4 (facing the cave), turn right and follow the cliff line past a couple of interesting caves until you recognise the cliff face and overhang of picture number 5. Go underneath the overhang shown in picture 5 and turn left around the corner. Be careful as although this looks quite simple, there is no room for error here.

When you are facing what is shown in picture 6 you will need to climb up to the top of it! Be careful here!!!! I have climbed this a few times and still find myself clambering away from the edge when I get to the top.
When you are at the top head left, staying between the rock face and the cliff edge. Take some time to enjoy the area and get your breath back!

When you are ready to search for the cache you will find it hidden somewhere in picture 7. It is a 200ml Sistema. Please ensure you take the time to place it back correctly as if there are fires through this area the correct placement may save it (or may not lol).

Please do not post photos that will give away the position of the hide. Feel free to post ant other pics taken though!

PLAN B

Why are you even reading this? Surely you are not going to attempt this plan. This will take you much longer, will be more stressful and to be honest is just a waste of time! But if you really want to attempt Plan B then good luck!

You will find the cache at – South 33 26.ABC East 151 18.DEF

You will need to head to Point Clare Cemetery to find the answers to the following:

1) Find the marker stone saying “ANGLICAN Section 4 Row 3 Nos. 61-90”. Along that row are a number of graves. When walking past a particular grave I imagined Don McLean sitting there and singing. A & B are the grave owner’s age when they died + 5.

2) Comedian Spike Milligan made Woy Woy famous. His parents are buried in this cemetery. F = the section that they are buried in + 2.

3) The section of the cemetery which contains the child graves is very sad. You will find rocks throughout this section containing plaques which have the info of all the children buried here. Unfortunately many of the graves have been lost. Locate the child containing the earliest date here. The first number mentioned in the date + 4 is E.

4) Picture 8 shows an ornate tombstone. Find this grave and the age of the owner when they passed away. The first number mentioned in their age - 1 is D.

5) Find the plaque which says “Erected by the Trustees of the Church of England”. There is a date mentioned. 1C/2/1934.

By the way, I forgot to mention. There is no need to head to any of the new graves. All the answers can be found in the older section of the cemetery. If you have for some unknown reason completed plan B, feel free to mention how long it took you in your log!!
