This is a small camouflage Sterilite container hidden at a point overlooking a very scenic and interesting part of the Tensaw River. Be sure to take a look south over the bluff. You will see the old dock for what became known as the Ghost Fleet.
In 1947 the War Department began mothballing and storing ships by the hundreds. Dozens of old Liberty Ships were stored beam to beam in this section of the river for years until they were eventually scrapped or scuttled in the Gulf of Mexico as fish reefs. This is the site of one of the old docks and maintenance areas.
You park at the concrete barriers and the cache is to your right. **Straight ahead don't miss the stairs and ramp to the dock area. You will be missing something really interesting if you pass on that easy stroll. The steps are steep but solid or you can take the easy and really neat ramp.***
Enjoy a cool location that many know nothing about and let me know what you think! I'm proud of this hide as it it the kind I most enjoy myself!
***Congrats to Cache-Counter for FTF! Glad it was a buddy to snag this one!***
