Geocache Description:

Welcome to Jones Beach

This area was the location of a silica crushing plant and wharf.  Silica from Conjola was transported by rail to Bannister Head where it was crushed and transported to the Newcastle and Port Kembla Steel Works.  Little remains of the wharf today with only rhe concrete foundations being visable.

You can park your car in the reserve next to Bannisters Resort in Mitchell Parade and a walking track takes you to the beach.  The beach consists of boulders and a short rock hop will have you at the cache.

The cache is a medium sized container with a few swaps.  Please hide the cache well as lots of muggles visit this area.
