Pietece no grāvjiem. Austrumos notece uz Liela Ludzas ezeru.
Līdz šim mums nav izdevies noskaidrot Rožu salas nosaukuma izcelsmi, vien atradām apgalvojumus, ka Rožu salā aug rudā roze, savvaļas rozes un citi reti sastopami augi.
Ievērības cienīgs ir blakus esošais Zvirgzdenes ezers ar tā 5 salām (Liepu sala, Ozolu sala, Lakstīgalu sala, Mīlestības sala, Ievu sala ), kuras ir dabas liegumi, jo tur saglabājušies platlapju (ozolu, liepu) meži ar bagātīgu zemsedzes floru.
(ENG) There are few lakes in the proximity of Ludza. Dūnākļu Lake is situated between Lielais Ludzas Lake and Zvirgzdenes Lake. Coastal shores are relatively low, peaty on South side, slightly higher on North and East sides. Bottom of the lake is even, covered with a thick layer of silt. East part of the lake is slightly deeper. Overall water level is supplemented by in-fills from adjoining ditches. There is also water run-off towards Lielais Ludzas Lake on East shore.
Its not been possible to recover the genesis of the island's name so far; some statements been found that ginger coloured rose grows on this island along wild roses and other rare plants.
Nearby Zvirgzdenes Lake is worth a glance with its five islands ( Liepu (Linden) Island, Ozolu (Oak) Island, Lakstīgalu (Nightingale) Island, Mīlestības (Love) Island, Ieva (Bird-cherry Tree) Island ), being nature conservation area itself and hosting rare deciduous forests (oak trees and linden trees) with lush groundcover vegetation.
