Santranges est un petit village situé entre le Sancerrois et la Sologne, dans les premières collines du Pays Fort, aux confins du département du Cher et du Loiret.
Pelotonné autour de son église, le village se plait à vivre dans ses vertes collines, entouré de prairies, de châtaigneraies vieilles de trois siècles, de son superbe étang, de jolis chemins et sentiers de promenades et de randonnées pédestres.
Son patrimoine monumental est digne d’intérêt avec notamment la grange pyramidale, typique du Berry, et l'église. Son passé comporte de nombreuses histoires de sorcières qui se livraient à leurs pratiques sur l'étang. Sans oublier ses deux personnages célèbres, Saint Posen qui évangélisa les bergers, et le Parsigneux, connu sous le nom de "Bon Dieu d' Santranges", et "qu'a guéri ben du monde".
Juchée sur un coteau, l’église Notre Dame, datant du XIIème siècle (le cœur, l'abside et le portail sont inscrits sur l'inventaire supplémentaire des monuments historiques depuis 1931), fait partie du circuit du Berry roman. Elle est en grès rouge du pays et possède un beau portail en plein cintre à trois voussures. La chapelle latérale accueille la châsse de Saint Posen, né à Santranges au Vème siècle.
Pourquoi "VERT" ?
Ma première cache posée (GC3VHY2) était une boîte verte, avec un stylo vert, un log book vert et des objets d'échange verts. Ainsi est née l'idée de placer les caches qui ont suivi sous le signe du "VERT" et de proposer un challenge consistant à y déposer de préférence des objets "VERTs". Ce challenge ne peut malheureusement pas concerner les caches de taille nano ou micro.

Santranges is a small village situated between Sancerrois and Sologne, in the first hills of the Pays Fort, in the borders of the departments of Cher and Loiret.
Wound around its church, the village likes to live in its green hills, surrounded with meadows, with old chestnut groves of three centuries, its magnificent pond, attractive paths.
Its monumental heritage is worthy of interest with in particular the pyramidal barn, typical of Berry, and the church. Its past contains witches' numerous stories and their practices on the pond. We must not forget two famous characters, St Posen who evangelized the shepherds, and the "Parsigneux", known under the name of " Good God of Santranges ", and " whom cured many people ".
Perched on a hillside, the church Notre-Dame, from the XIIth century (the heart, the apse and the portal are registered on the additional inventory of historic monuments since 1931), is a part of the circuit of Romanic Berry. It is built in red stoneware of the country and gets a beautiful portal in full three arches. The side chapel welcomes St Posen's reliquary, born in Santranges in the Vth century.
Why "VERT" ?
My first geocache ( GC3VHY2) was a green box, with a green pen, a green log book and green items for exchange. So was born the idea to place the caches which followed under the sign of the "VERT" ("GREEN" in French) and to propose a challenge consisting in depositing there rather "VERT" objects. This challenge cannot unfortunately concern the caches in nano or micro size.
