Geocache Description:

An event to help you ease into caching in the new year. Meet and greet, TB swaps all the rest of usual event procedure will happen between 10am and 10:30am. It is in this time slot that the 'formal' event shall take place. After about 11:00am don't be suprised if no one is there! I have organised an activity (which is really the focus of the event), beginning at 10:30am, which I strongly encourage all to take part in but is optional; THE INCREDIBLE RACE!

The following information is all for the Activity:

So! Here the Incredible journey begins! This is no ordinary event activity, it will involve courage, blood, sweat and tears! Well not really but that sounds good! ;) But in all seriousness, it will take fitness and patience to complete the challenge. Starting from the Observatory, a multiple waypoint style adventure will lead you through the CBD of Sydney and end in a different place. Some locations will require you to find something hidden, solve a puzzle, count something and some will have a person there to give you further instructions. Either before or on the day, you will choose teams consisting of your profile (either just yourself or your family) and another profile (either just yourself or your family). It’s best to choose someone of similar abilities to yourself. Your team partner can be someone you know or someone that you’re about to know. Sure, winning is great but the ultimate aim to the Incredible Race is to help you get to know your team mates and to have a great day.

Now some specifics:
Teams:

If you plan on coming please post up a ‘Will attend’ log

Find someone (another Account) to be in a team with you. If we have an odd number of profiles attending, we may need to have one team of three accounts.

Please try and organise teams BEFORE the day, this will make planning a lot easier.

Also post up in either the ‘Will attend’ log or the ‘Write a Note’ log who your team consists of.

*Families with more than one account can either choose to stay together or split up. If you split up, you may need to find other team members*

On the Day:

Please arrive at the Observatory Hill at 10:00am as I would like to begin the race at 10:30am

If it is raining, well it’s not raining

The whole course is about 4.5-5km long, but believe me, it will probably take a good 3.5hours to complete

The final location is within walking distance from a place where you can get food, but I still recommend bringing a lunch that you can eat on the go.

Bring plenty of water! When I was setting out the course I drank 1.5L and I usually don’t get thirsty!

There will be prizes (Geocaching related) for 1st and 2nd (possibly third too? Dunno, I’m still thinking about that one)

As Gps reception is appalling in the city, google maps and maps on your GPS will become your best friend

You will need some form of camera, either smart phone or digital camera (no film camera’s ;) ) as you will need these for taking photos of bonus items for extra points. If you don’t have either a smart phone or digital camera, try teaming up with a person who does.

If you live outside of the CBD, your personal car is probably best left outside of the city as parking is fiercely expensive. It is probably best to take a train to either Circular Quay or Wynyard station as these are the closest train stations to the Observatory Hill.

Other rules:

You are not permitted to use bikes or your own personal vehicle in any stage of the event.

You are allowed to use public transport, such as trains and buses, however it is at your own expense. I advise against using public transport as it is slow and doesn’t really take you to anywhere of the locations.

Any cheating, such as using private transport, tampering with any clues, or skipping locations will result in disqualification of your team.

*Further instructions to the Incredible Race will be given on the day*

If you would like some extra points (which may come in handy later on), I will be awarding them to the BEST DRESSED!

RSVP WITH A WILL ATTEND BY THURSDAY 9TH OF JANUARY 2014

See you all there!
