STAGE 1: This mansion is one of the oldest homes in Brenham and is a very popular site for weddings. The annual Holiday Home Tour & Trunk Show is held here in November and is one of the few times a year the public can enjoy a tour of the mansion.

CODE LETTER: The marker description's 28th character is the letter you record in your Passport in box # 8.

TO FIND STAGE 2 LOCATION: N 30° 10.4AB W 096° 23.5AC

A = Last digit of the year that the house was recorded as a Texas historic landmark.
B = Add the last two digits of the wife's birth year together.
C = Last digit of the year the house was entered into the National Registry of Historic Places

STAGE 2: This is the oldest house in Brenham and part of the Holiday Home Tour every year.

CODE LETTER: Number of steps at the street PLUS number of pillars in the front of the house EQUALS a number that equates to an alphabetical letter where 1=A, 2=B, 3=C, etc. That letter is the letter you record in your Passport in box # 9.

TO FIND STAGE 3 LOCATION: N 30° 10.1AB W 096° 23.6CB

A = Number of chimneys
B = Add the last two digits of the year the house was built
C = Second number of the address over door

STAGE 3: Built in 1898, this home is the most recently acquired by the Historical Society of Washington County and is where the actual cache container is placed. The container is large enough for a log only and will have the code letter you need for your Passport for box # 10. Park on the side street so not to draw too much attention to yourself - there are lots of muggles across the street at the convenience store.

The PRIVATE PROPERTY signs apply to the general public, but geocachers are allowed as the owner of the house has made an exception. Just make sure to respect the property so the cache can continue to stay here. After you find it, walk to the corner to the marker, read the history of the home and admire its beauty. It makes a great picture! :-)
