The old bridge over the Liamone needed to be replaced by an other bridge. The old bridge was to narrow and the concrete was not in a good condition any more.

In spring 2012 the work started with a deviation and the old bridge was demolited. They made the complete bridge on one site. Then when the bridge construction without the pavement was ready the pulled it very slowly to the other site. This is called the “lancage”.

The bridge is a design from the architect Stephane Mickaelian. The form is a bow string what means that you have some horizontal elements and an arc of a circle.

The initatief of this project started in 2002 but the real start on the site was in 2012. The conceil general de Corse-du-Sud was the initior of the project. The total cost of this project will be 8 million euro’s. In total the bridge will be 130 meters long. The total weigth of the construction is 1500 ton. 4000 m2 have to be painted en maintaind. In august 2013 there was a delay on the work of 4 weeks.

In high summer saison there are passing 30000 vehicles this bridge!

As you can see there is another problem solved on the roads on this islands. Most of the main roads are now a days good. If you leave the main roads and get smaller roads to the inner land you can find less good roads. So be careful when you are not used the drive there.

Are you a good driver to find the cache……. And are you a good driver to open this cache.

Have fun.
