Ashland was known as Saline Ford in the 1840s and 50s. This was the only natural rock-bottom ford of Salt Creek between the future capital of Nebraska and the Platte River. It was used by the military and settlers moving west who preferred the Oxbow Trail along the south side of the Great Platte River Road. Many thanks to McGator, Lady Bug of Plattsmouth, and Twinstars for organizing this event for many years!!! Huzzah Huzzah Huzzah
