The Church was dedicated on 2nd October 1874 as a chapel-of-ease to St Peter’s Church, Parkstone. It was consecrated as the parish church of Lilliput in 1962.
In 1874 the Church consisted of no more than the nave of the present Church. In 1878 a small extension on the north side was added to provide space for a vestry and the harmonium; in 1891 a chancel and an oak screen were erected and in 1898 the south aisle and porch were added. In 1906 the beautiful screen, organ case and choir stalls were installed and the windows in the nave were filled with stained glass and dedicated on 18th May 1918. The War Memorial was dedicated on 4th January 1920 and moved to its present position in 1964. In 1922 a large Victorian dark oak six sided pulpit with five carved panels was acquired from St Peter’s Church, replacing an earlier pulpit: this was in use until 2005.
The Church was extended in 1966 with an extension to the sanctuary and the addition of a Lady Chapel on the north side of the chancel. In 2005 the Church was again extended on the north side. At this time the font was restored and moved to its present position at the west end of the north aisle and the nave floor of quarry tiles was replaced by an oak block floor. The pews on the north side of the church were removed at this time. They were replaced with chairs which were also used for the additional seating in the new extension.
In 2007 the ground to the west of the church was made into a Garden of Remembrance and consecrated by the Bishop of Salisbury on 30th September 2007. In 2012 the Chancel was re-ordered to provide additional seating for the growing choir. The original quarry tiles were uncovered and refurbished and the choir stalls were removed and replaced with the pews removed from the north aisle during the extension in 2005.
