Church Micro 4404 Breamore Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

jamescfuller: Checked today and seems the box has gone which was left by red stag. There is nowhere else I can put the cache due to Breamore estate land. So it needs to be archived.

Geocache Description:

Breamore Church

Park at the church, additional parking is nearby for the tea barn. Saint Mary's Church at Breamore (pronounced Bremmer) is a typical Anglo Saxon church thought to date back to 980AD. One of the windows dates back to 1340. The main building dates back to the 15th Century.

It is situated in the lovely village of Breamore on the edge of the New Forest National Park. Nearby to the church is the stunning Elizabethan Breamore House which is open for tours in the afternoons. Also I highly recommend the Tea barn as the cream teas there are outstanding. I am always up there in the summer to have at least one! The Tea barn is open in April Tuesday, Sunday and Easter Weekend. May to September Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday,Sunday and Bank Holidays. and finally in October Tuesday and Sunday. All of the above dates work to the opening times of 12:00 - 5:30pm. Breamore was first recorded as Brunmore in 1086. At an early date the Manor belonged to the Crown and in 1086 was part of the royal manor of Rockbourne. By the grant of Henry 1 Breamore passed to the earls of Devon who held it from the king in chief. Through the years it passed from hand to hand and soon it was presented back to the Crown in 1538 -1539. Also nearby is the Breamore Railway station which was opened in 1886 it ran along North and South along the river Avon connecting Salisbury to the north and Poole to the South.
